I came out for the San Jose BC twilight crit yesterday evening.
So far, that's my first and only crit.
I think I managed to not embarass myself.
Though p'r'aps I should ride with B's next time rather than C's.
I hope the fellow who crunched on lap one is okay--too bad, he was a friendly type who really seemed to be looking forward to riding.

oh, come on, we need waaaaaaaay more details than that!
Slowly but surely, you are being sucked into the black hole that is bike racing.
Excellent.
a road crit?
wow!
he's coming over to the dark side
Feel your anger, your hate...
Actually no, it was way too mellow for that. I lined up with the C's and tried to work with them pacelining, but not everyone was with the program...and the one fellow crashed on the first lap (overlapping wheels to blame), so everyone regrouped at the start/finish for a while before restarting. There were 3-4 LGBRC juniors in the C's including one 11?-yr-old who attacked on the uphill on every lap...and who I did not see at the finish so I assume he blew up. I was strong to enough to pull away from the group solo, and did so on the last lap, so I guess I won--maybe not very sporting of me--but I'm happy with the "??" in the winner's column on the SJBC website.
I expect the B's to cause more leg pain when I'm back in 3-4 weeks.
