Hi ho, hi ho, we're off to Chi-ca-go

...for the American Chemical Society's 233rd National Meeting & Exposition.

Imagine: 15,000 chemists milling about for 5 days.

The three days that I will be there are probably too much already, and I'm cutting out before Wednesday and Thursday. Pity the poor schlub speaking at 4.30pm Thursday afternoon to an empty room (not me, thankfully).

Somebody get me some fresh vegetables...broccoli...celery...and fresh fruit...apples...oranges...

The lack of fresh produce probably has less to do with Chicago and more to do with traveling in general.

Also: I will never travel through O'Hare again. Even on its best days, it's an airport on the edge of scheduling disaster.

I traveled through O'Hare en route from Switzerland. It was a nightmare, and I have a high tolerance for airport chaos. In contrast to the cool and precise calm of Zurich it was almost otherwordly. Youtski recently traveled through O'Hare too, and she laughed at me when I told her about my booking...
