Here in BC dp and I went into Mission to attend the Remembrance Day event. We were maybe 10 minutes early, but the venue was full to overflowing and there was already a crowd milling in the foyer. We couldn't even find a place to stand where we could peep into the auditorium through the open doors. It was oddly moving, all those people turning out to pay tribute to Canadian troops and troopers. And, of course, poppies _everywhere_.
dt: Glad to hear of the respects being paid. I was listening to CFMI at 11 for two minutes of silence (um, irony anyone?), but the world doesn't stop turning down here.
Of course, Memorial Day is a big deal, predates WWI, and recognizes events more immediately felt in the US (Civil War), so it's in some way understandable that Veterans' Day sorta gets the shaft.
